Our Academy

 

The Volunteer Academy is a one-stop shop for volunteers
and volunteer involving organisations.

It streamlines processes and procedures for volunteer management
and helps individuals and groups to be ‘Volunteer-Ready’. 


For Volunteers:

  • Volunteer Brokerage: to find the most suitable/appropriate volunteer role.
  • Pre Volunteering: personal development and confidence building through
    Step Up to Volunteering and buddying/mentoring.
  • Induction: a generic induction programme covering Health & Safety;
    Equality & Diversity; Safeguarding; Information and Data Protection.
  • Personal Development Planning: to identity and record individual learning
    and development needs, goals and aspirations.
  • Ongoing support: quarterly meetings to review personal development plans.
    Mentoring; buddying; learning and development; progression to other opportunities
    eg training, education and employment.
  • Volunteer Passport: designed to make volunteering more portable and provide
    a mechanism for recording volunteer activities and achievements.
    The Volunteer Passport enables volunteers to move through their personal
    volunteer journey seamlessly and aims to provide more streamlined and efficient
    volunteer recruitment processes for volunteer involving organisations.

 

For Organisations:

The Academy encompasses 5 key areas:

  • Research: An initial assessment needs review meeting; Support with undertaking
    the Volunteer Investment and Value Audit (VIVA); targeted Volunteer research.
  • Recruitment: Comprehensive support with developing recruitment materials;
    support with developing policies/procedures and strategic documents;
    targeted recruitment campaigns; workshops/information re: new models of volunteering.
  • Training: The Academy can develop a tailored package of training for volunteers.
    If a funded programme is available we will always signpost to this.
  • Management: Support with the implementation of the Volunteer Charter,
    audit and development of policies and procedures suitable for volunteers,
    volunteer programme evaluation.
  • Representation: Volunteer recognition/celebration events;
    targeted volunteer events/activities.

Training:

The Academy can develop a tailored package of training for your volunteers, including Equality and Diversity, Mentoring, Step-Up, Safe guarding and much more – if a funded programme is available we will always signpost to this. We also provide a fantastic 1 day Managing Volunteers course priced at only £50pp – it is extremely popular! Management: Support with the implementation of the Volunteer Charter, audit and development of policies and procedures suitable for volunteers,
volunteer programme evaluation.

Representation:

Volunteer recognition/celebration events; targeted volunteer events/activities.
Our Volunteer Academy services are competitively priced and supported by our knowledge and expertise as accredited IIV award holder, our trained IIV advisors, our local, regional and national connections, not forgetting the years of experience of our onsite team.

Example:

One organisation was provided with a 1 day Introduction to Volunteer Management course and additional conversation revealed a new volunteer mentoring programme they where developing, through our funded services we were able to offer the mentoring AQA FREE to their Blackpool volunteers.
